Accent Custom Drapery was established in 1987 and currently consists of a team of highly qualified and talented master sewers. The owners, Karen and Shari, have been working together since 2002 and have been business partners since 2007. Both women have been sewing since they were very young, learning from the real masters — their mothers!

Shari Co-OwnerShari has a drafting background working as a draftsman in the automotive industry. Because of this experience she can easily adjust patterns or draft a pattern that will create your window treatment vision. Shari learned to sew as a child from her mother and she especially loves detailed and precision work. She loves challenges, and is continually learning and searching for new fabrication techniques.

Karen Co-Owner
Karen began learning the skills and the beauty of drapery making from her mother-in-law, who shared with her the old world skills she brought to this country from Sicily. She soon began making draperies for herself and for family. These creative endeavors led way to opening Accent Custom Drapery in 1987. She has instructed classes at national conferences on drapery fabrication. In 1992 she co-founded the Greater Detroit Workroom Association, a networking organization for drapery workrooms. Karen’s passion for the design process has led the way for growth, service and commitment.
